Pan's Labyrinth

Guillermo del Toro has created a gloriously dark fairy tale. It's violent and creepy and wondrous and innocent all at once.

The child actress, Ivana Baquero, did a great job and the historical context (Franco's Spain) added to the depth of the story. I had to include a picture of this guy:

as he was my favorite.

The lines between a child's fantasy and reality blur imperceptibly and the special effects are great.

Vivid reality and vivid fantasy are equally entertaining. Grotesque and graphic. Makes you want to draw a door on the wall and walk through.
